Denis Labbe    

President: Sensei Denis Labbé, 8th Dan, SWKKF President

Sensei Denis was a direct student and confidant of Sensei Shintani. He continues to uphold the vision and values Sensei Shintani had while encouraging the team to compete at its best.
 
         
         
Ron Mattie    

Coach: Sensei Ron Mattie 7th Dan, SWKKF Chief Instructor

Sensei Ron is also a direct student of Sensei Shintani and has extensively studied a variety of other martial arts including kendo, iaido, and shindo. His vast experiences have made him a successful coach throughout the history of the team.
 
         
         
Sanford Dewitt    

International Kata Coach: Sensei Sanford Dewitt, 4th Dan

Sensei Sanford has trained in karate for nearly thirty years with experience in wado-kai and koshiki karate, as well as shindo. He successfully competed for Canada six times, most recently as an exhibition athlete in the 2004 Olympics. Sensei’s knowledge and skill is an essential part of the teams’ success.
 
         
         
Dave Brunarski    

Team Trainer: Sensei Dr. Dave Brunarski, 4th Dan

Sensei Dave has extensive martial arts training in wado-kai, kendo, iaido, shindo, and taekwondo. He is a doctor of Chiropractic, serving on the Ontario Chiropractic Association, and is a clinical specialist. He assists our team with injury prevention, the designing of workout programs, and rehabilitation when injury does occur.
 
         
         
 Reynolds    

Team Manager: Sensei Kris Reynolds, 3rd Dan

Sensei Kris has contributed to the SWKKF National Team as the team manager since 2005. His experience in his study of karate contributes to a well run and efficient team. He volunteers to teach karate throughout Lindsay, Ontario and competed with Sensei Sanford as an Olympic Exhibition athlete in 2004.
 
         
         
Michel Goselin    

Team Captain: Sensei Michel Gosselin, 4th Dan

Age: 50
Years Training: 37
Location: Hearst, Ontario
Occupation: Vice principal
Special Achievements: Gold medalist at the 2009 Ozawa Cup, member of the SWKKF National Team six times (1997-1998, 1998-2000, 2000-2002, 2002-2004, 2006-2008, 2008-2010). Also an accomplished 1st dan in Taekwondo, Sensei represented Canada at the 4th I.T.F World Championships.

 
         
         
Jeff Gervin    

Sensei Jeff Gervin, 5th Dan

Years Training: 28
Location: Boissevain, Manitoba
Occupation: Veterinarian
Special Achievements: 1st dan in Judo, brown belt in Shotokan. Has competed across Canada and the USA. Raises a family of five children while running his own veterinarian practice and karate dojo.

 
         
         
Scott Hill    

Sensei Scott Hill, 4th Dan

Age: 33
Years Training: 25
Location: Delhi, Ontario
Occupation: Master electrician
Special Achievements: Member of SWWKF National Team in 2000-2002, 2004- 2006, 2008-2010, competing in Pennsylvania, Columbus, California, Las Vegas, throughout Canada and in Morocco, Northern Africa.

         
         
Kevin Bowes    

Sensei Kevin Bowes, 4th Dan

Age: 35
Years Training: 17
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Occupation: Business Systems Analyst
Special Achievements: Brown belt in Shotokan karate, completion of provincial level triathlons, and is a volunteer soccer coach in Calgary.

 
         
         
Mike Rust    

Sensei Mike Rust, 3rd Dan

Age: 32
Years Training: 17
Location: Etobicoke, Ontario
Occupation: Civil servant, City of Toronto
Special Achievements: Trained in Judo and Shotokan karate, earning a 1st dan in the latter. Also trains in Brazilian jujitsu as a supplement to the current team training.

Special Achievements: 2006-2008, 2008-2010 National team member competing in the United States and Canada.

 
         
         
Kelsey Ross    

Sensei Kelsey Ross, 2nd Dan

Age: 24
Years Training: 15
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Occupation: Registered Nurse (RN)
Special Achievements: Finalist in 2004 Terry Fox Humanitarian Award, current volunteer at inner city health clinic, volunteered for three months in Ghana, West Africa.

Location: Whitecourt, Alberta
Occupation: Power lineman
Special Achievements: Blue belt in Shito Ryu karate. Has two teenage children, runs a small business, and volunteer instructs at the Whitecourt karate club.

Location: Lindsay, Ontario
Occupation: Student
Special Achievements: Completed a luthier (guitar making) course and uses this special skill as a means to earn more tuition money for a course in cabinetmaking.

Location: Hearst, Ontario
Occupation: Student
Special Achievements: Involved in school athletics, long distance track and field, participating in the Hearst Music Festival, and a volunteer for the Cancer Walk.
